Chris Godin is the founder and owner of Starlite Gaming located in Summerville, SC. Starlite Gaming is a brick and mortar retail storefront located just outside Charleston and caters to the community through sales of video games/consoles/accessories/comics, sponsorships of local athletic teams, donations to local charities and events. It is a family oriented video game store where everyone is welcome.
Chris started Starlite out of a passion for gaming and the “geek” culture. After collecting video games, comics and toys for the better part of two decades, the clutter around the house became too much of a burden. Using his own collection and money as the seed capital Chris rented a space and started selling games. At the start there were about 2,500 games on the wall, 20 consoles in stock, and very few other items in the store. Now, just a short 14 months and $275,000 in sales later, you will find well over 10,000 games, hundreds of consoles, a dozen boxes full of comics, toys, plush, and more in stock at any given time.
Starlite Gaming was founded in April of 2015 without the use of debt and has grown enormously since then. The business’s sales ramped up very quickly. The business’s revenue was nearly $220,000 for the first 12 months of operation and continues to grow from there. The only things holding back growth at this point is a webstore, second location and access to a larger amount of inventory.
Chris is seeking $100,000 for expansion into a second store along with development of a webstore (to complement the new website) and Point of Sale system. The Point of Sale will integrate into the webstore to ensure the correct inventory is offered for sale both in store and online.
